Domain

The domain is a combination of Elwood’s famous “It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses.” in Blues Brothers and the idea, that by mid 2024 I aim to have walked, bussed, and train’d just about that many trails. About one every three days or so.

Me

I am Mikka. Since February 2023 I am aware that I have to slow down if I don’t want to arrive “prematurely” if you know what I mean. So that’s what I am doing, taking a year off, walk, hike, travel.

This is my travel diary. I hope it entertains, maybe inspires to hike more, and tells my story. For me, it’s a way to stay in contact, no matter where I am.

I’m no fan of those pastel-colored, over-edited travel blogs by “travel influencers” of places where the weather is always beautiful, the water is always turquoise, and the bikini is always designer. Here, it rains, i get mud everywhere, and I don’t have the money for those types of trips and clothes anyway.

Instead, I have a backpack, stories of nights spent in a barn or a train station, and absolutely no affiliate links or product placements.
